Shrimp fishing cutters first appeared in 1898 and were virtually restricted in the North Sea. Ten years later they began to be fitted with 8-12 hp motors and were usually about 10 meters in length. The Bremen was a wooden boat built in 1953, in a small, unknown boat yard of the German Coast.
